| Will changing ball weights affect my game adversely? | |
| Question: |
Hello, I was wondering whether or not changing ball weights from 15 lbs to 14 lbs would effect my game much. I've started to pick up bowling again, and have been bowling regularly (20-30 games a week) to get back into it after 12 years away from the game. I'm noticing that my wrist flares up a bit, particularly if I'm bowling two-hour sessions around game 5 or 6, and have to rest a couple of days before I practice again sometimes. So I was considering trying a 14 lb ball. Will carry and deflection change considerably? And what else should I consider, if anything? |

The quick answer is not very much. There will be some minor things you might notice. You may leave a few more in between 10 pins. But your ability to bowl more pain free and the added control should make up for those extra 10 pins. I use 15lbs right now but this week just for fun I took out an old garage ball which is my last 14lb. holdout I have left. In my 2 leagues I shot 704 and 792. The 792 is my highest series this season. So I guess the lower weight did not hurt. BOB |
